AngloGold Ashanti – AuDITIONS 2006


Manoel Bernardes always supports innovation. This is why it sponsored four of the 24 pieces selected in the AuDITIONS jewelry design context promoted by AngloGold Ashanti, the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in Latin America.

AuDITIONS gives awards to the most striking and innovative gold jewelry. The theme of the 2006 edition was Glacial Heat, underlining the contrast between hot and cold, emotion and reason, gentleness and aggressiveness, boldness and modesty.

Piece: Marie Antoinette
Designer: Heloisa Azevedo
Inspired by medieval armor, this piece blends the reason of the warriors with feminine emotion, yielding a luxurious and sensual impact.


Piece: Worldtec bracelet
Designer: Leticia Landgraf
Inspired by the paradox between the rationality of technology and the motivation of nature. The globe, organic forms, interactivity, speed of information inspire the outward design, of brushed yellow gold, representing emotional warmth.



Piece: Kilimanjaro
Designer: Fernando H. Sá de Motta
Like a mantle of snow resting on the summit and sides of a mountain, this piece receives the shoulders and contours without hiding beauty, conserving the inner warmth.



Piece: Bolero Dual
Designer: Marina Assreuy
A short jacket knit in gold thread with gold plaques attached to one of the sleeves, while the other has the same design cut out of it, representing the duality between reason and emotion.

In addition to the selected pieces, Manoel Bernardes also developed a gown decorated with 5500 gold sequins, conceived by designer Victor Dzenk and worn on the catwalk by Isabela Fiorentino at the awards event.
