Anglogold Ashanti – AuDITIONS 2004


The second edition of Anglogold Ashanti Designer Forum Brasil selected pieces inspired by the theme “Roots and forms” and had the direct participation of over 15000 people. Among the 648 projected entered, Manoel Bernardes developed four, in addition to the items worn by the Golden Girl – corselet, earrings and sandals.

Prize-winning piece: scarf “Brazilian Roots and Forms”
Designer: Renata Bessa
Inspired by the craftwork of the Northeast and the feather art of Brazil’s indigenous people, this scarf is made of Renaissance lace and embroidered with small gold plates, and a Brazilian feather and seed fringe.

Piece: ACAPU ring
Designer: CLÁUDIA MATANDOS
The designer found inspiration in a typical wood of the northeast of Brazil, Acapu, with contrasting tones between the heartwood and the sapwood.

Designer: ANGELA SAMPAIO
Influence of African culture, introduced into the mystique and religiosity of candomblé, an age-old cult.

Piece: hair comb FLORESTA
Designer: VIRGÍNIA MORAES
This piece is inspired by the natural wealth of Brazil and its first inhabitants. Taking the form of an indigenous headdress, it uses three types of native woods.
